In February, 2023, we introduced the “Generations” community-building initiative. 8th grade students, led by their Homeroom Teacher, Mrs. Bloom, were connecting with parishioners from the Sts. Viator and Wenceslaus Parish over coffee and light refreshments. Generations continues, and the 8th Grade just hosted their first event for this school year!
The Event
Students host Generations right after Mass, on the lower level of the St. Viator church. They invite parishioners to attend, and serve light refreshments. Mrs. Bloom sets out questions that help start conversations. The setting is informal and familiar, and becomes a visit rather than a project.
Conversation and Connection
Generations offers Parishioners a chance to share their experiences and life lessons. Students broaden their understanding of service and grow an appreciation for accompaniment. The Generations Project is perfect for the 8th grade students as they complete their Confirmation preparation. We will be sure to share the students' own thoughts as they host more sessions.
Attendees
Attendees to the first session included school parents and grandparents, parishioners, Dr. Rieger, and Father Ben! Generations is a unique connection for our school and parish, and it is great to see the leadership continue their support of this project!
Moving into the Year-Join us!
We will continue to highlight Generations as the school year progresses. And we'll check in with Mrs. Bloom and the 8th grade students to learn just how Generations is impacting them. If you are a Parishioner or a friend of St. Viator Elementary School, we invite you to join us for Generations. Extended family and alumni too! The conversation continues on the first Wednesday of the month at the St. Viator church site. Head down to the Church Hall after the 8:15AM Mass - we'll meet you there!
We are Peace Builders; We are Eagles; We are St. Viator!
