St. Viator Elementary School was not a public polling place today, but students cast their votes in a mock election!
The 8th Grade Class worked with Mr. Slawik, our dedicated Media Studies Teacher, to host a "mock" Presidential Election.
Students from 1st grade through 8th grade were eligible to vote. They completed a registration card, checked in with election officials, and then cast their votes!
They left with their registration cards, and even got an "I Voted!" sticker!
In addition to the mock election, Student Council representatives were on the ballot. Mr. Bangiola, Curriculum Director, leads Student Council for students in 4th through 8th grades. Students wrote speeches and delivered them to the classes in preparation for today's vote. Their classmates voted, selecting their top choices. Good luck, candidates!
Student Council is starting up for the year, the election kicks off their term. Ms. McCabe and Ms. Miriam join Mr. Bangiola to add support to the group. We look forward to sharing the projects and great work from Student Council.
Mr. Slawik started the mock elections when he was teaching 8th grade here at St. Viator. We are grateful that he brought it back this election, as the students clearly enjoyed themselves. Mr. Slawik tallied the votes before the day ended, and announced to the school that Kamala Harris swept the election, winning 77% of the St. Viator vote! Congratulations, students, on the practice election!
