St. Viator Elementary School students paid reverence to Mary with a May Crowning ceremony at Wednesday's Mass.
Molly, one of our graduating 8th graders, was the May Queen, and bestowed the flowered crown on Mary's head.
Her classmates collected and offered roses to the statue of Mary.
Our 2nd grade class, recent communicants, dressed in their First Communion finery to join the celebration.
Father Tito presided over Mass, and Dr. Rieger led the crowning ceremony.
Father Tito explained that May Crowning ceremonies are intended to demonstrate our respect and love for Mary. We hold her in high regard as the vessel for Jesus; His mother and mother to all of the faithful. She is crowned as the Queen of Heaven, and acts on our behalf.
The Mass was the last Class Mass for our 8th grade students. They continue to prepare for next week's graduation.
There is much to be thankful for after our May Crowning celebration. Thanks go out to Dr. Rieger, Ms. Matthies, Mrs. Bloom, and Father Tito for making our May Crowning a beautiful addition to Mass. Thank you to our 2nd and 8th grade students, for participating in the May Crowning with reverence. And thank you to all of the family, friends, and parishioners who joined in the celebration as one community. May the Blessed Mother keep us all in her care and continue to intercede on our behalf.
We are Peace Builders; We are Eagles; We are St. Viator!
