Meet Mr. Wysocki!

Introducing another of our new St. Viator Elementary School Staff Members, Mr. Michael Wysocki! Mr. Wysocki is our 5th and 6th Grade Remote Learning Teacher.

Mr. Wysocki worked as an Educational Associate in Glenview before joining St. Viator Elementary School. This is his first year as a teacher. As a Remote Learning Teacher, Mr. Wysocki starts every day with a morning live stream, teaching 5th Grade Science and Social Studies, 5th and 6th Grade Religion, and 6th Grade English Language Arts (ELA). In the afternoon he is back online teaching 6th Grade Science and Social Studies, and 5th grade ELA. In between those live streams he relaxes by supervising the 1st and 2nd Grade lunch periods!

This is Mr. Wysocki’s first year at St. Viator School. When we were preparing for this introduction, he shared with me that, “This is my first year here, and I am enjoying it...I am looking forward to the future at St. Viator Elementary School and am happy to be here.”

Mr. Wysocki was sharing some classroom dynamics about the 5th and 6th grade students. He described how they are expanding their learning skills by using different perspectives to approach a topic. He shared a fun lesson where students wrote for humorous purposes, targeting people who are looking for a laugh. While student research included online memes and writing funny captions to photos, students also wrote about the importance of being considerate of others when you are joking around. In Mr. Wysocki’s own words, ”I [enjoyed] this lesson because I love to laugh and joke around, as do the students. I felt that it was a good way to engage them while learning.”

Mr. Wysocki is in the school each day, remotely teaching students through Google Meet. When classes return to “normal”, he will take up Room 304 as his classroom. If you have any questions for Mr. Wysocki, or the remote learning process, you can contact him via email at mwysocki@stviatorchicago.org, or contact the Front Office.

Join us in welcoming Mr. Wysocki to the St. Viator Community!
