We can get nostalgic here at St. Viator Elementary School. After 123 years in the Old Irving neighborhood, it is easy to find good history to reflect on. Earlier this year, we shared about our Y2K time capsule , and took a look at that 25 year old project. Today, we are sharing more items from student life in the late 50's and early 60's.

Wow...$3.oo per month...school tuition is definitely higher today. There is something about this old receipt that is way more appealing than the "payment summary" page on the FACTS website. We love the current functionality, but there is a different connection to a paper card that you maintained and brought each month when you paid your tuition. And nuns as teachers and administrators? That's some history.

The report cards aren't dramatically different. A print-out on white paper is not as jazzy as this green cardstock, but the information is similar. It's interesting seeing the "Marking Code" versus the grades that we use today. Good to see John's Handwriting marks improved throughout the year. And check out the right page, with the personal development traits. "Produces a quality of work that measures up to ability" - no phoning it in with the nuns!
Thank you to Ms. Mary Pat for sharing these pieces of St. Viator history. We appreciate the chance to glimpse student life at St. Viator Elementary School from the past. Do you have some St. Viator history? Feel free to share it with us!
Looking back at our school history is fun and helps us appreciate the present. We are also gearing up for St. Viator's future. Enrollment for the '25-'26 School Year is open, and we are accepting applications for all of our grades: 3 year old preschool through 8th grade. We will host two Open House events in April - join us! Tour the school, speak with faculty & staff, and see why St. Viator is the right choice for your family.
We are Peace Builders; We are Eagles; We are St. Viator!
